Kieren at 29 Weeks

Hey everyone!

This week Kieren is the size of a butternut squash! I have been loving some butternut squash soup this fall season, so this size is tasty to me! She is growing and moving and all is well for baby and mom this week.

Love,
Sarah

Congratulations!

Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Anthony and Allison Pranger as they return from their honeymoon this weekend!

I was privileged to marry Anthony and Allison last weekend in beautiful Blowing Rock, NC and everyone had an incredible weekend celebrating with this wonderful couple! I have gotten to know them by a common 'Africa' bond as they met serving in the Peace Corps in Lesotho, Africa, a country inside South Africa.

Welcome home you guys!!

Baby Prince at 28 weeks

Kieren Joy is 28 weeks now, and the size of a Chinese Cabbage. I wish she was something "NC State Fair" related like a funnel cake or turkey leg...

Lots of love!

Mexico Memories 2008

Good evening!

So just wanted to share some pictures and wonderful memories from my dental mission trip with Grace Community Church this year. This was my fourth year to go on this mission trip, and I have been privileged to be the spiritual leader on this trip in my journey with these incredible people. We travel to Reynosa, Mexico (right across the Texas line) to help this struggling border community. Truly, these people have become family and it was wonderful once again to go home! As you can expect, the Mexicans were ALL OVER my pregnant belly, and it was such a joy to share the coming birth of our baby girl with them (although you think YOU have trouble saying 'Kieren,' they are hopeless...). We served these people all week with our dental team with dental cleanings, fillings, and extractions. Above all we just tried to love and encourage the people, always serving them 'en el nombre de Jesus Christo' or in the name of Jesus Christ. The team truly bonded together as a family, and God did a great work in each of our hearts individually and as a team. And I felt great all week! Turns out Kieren loves Mexico - she was moving more then EVER! Thanks for your thoughts and prayers while I was gone, and I hope to stay more on this side of the Rio Grand for the rest of the pregnancy!

Enjoy some pictures below!

Love,
Sarah

Back Home

Hey everyone!

Thanks SO much for your prayers last week as I traveled to Reynosa, Mexico to help lead a team of dentists on a mission trip with our church, Grace Community. It was an incredible and beautiful week, and Kieren did great! She can't wait to meet her Mexican family some day! I will post a few pics as the week goes on, but just wanted to say that I am doing wonderfully - praise God!

Sarah

27 weeks!

Kieren Joy is now 27 weeks old - and the size of a head of cauliflower! Not my favorite veggie, but I am just so happy she is continuing to grow. She is REALLY moving more and more these days, dancing and kicking and flipping! She must be getting ready for a fun life out here with all of us!

Pray for Sarah

Sarah is in Reynosa, Mexico this week helping to lead a team of dentists that are there to serve the Mexican people with Faith Ministries. Please pray for her leadership of the team. Pray for her own experience. And pray for her health, too. Everybody keeps looking act me funny when I tell them that she is there. But come on, have you met my wife? It's not like I could have stopped her! Ain't nothin' gonna slow her down!
Thanks for the prayers.

A Few of My Favorite Things

So just thinking about some of the joys of pregnancy today, and one of them is that people are always wondering what foods I am 'craving'! The weird thing is that I don't have any crazy cravings, but I do have a 'heightened interest' in a few things. These are a few of my favorite things lately:
Mellowcreme Pumpkins
Ice DREAM from Chick-fil-A
The Blueberry Crunch bagel from Cafe Carolina.

Don't worry, I'm getting in my nutrients too, but wow, those few things make life just a bit sweeter these days :)

Love,
Sarah

26 weeks!

Kieren Joy is growing more and more - this week she is almost 2 pounds and is the length of an English cucumber. YUM! I could just eat that little girl up...

Love,
Sarah

I just think this is hilarious. Probably not as funny if you don't spend much time with dogs. Lance is definitely setting up a profile!

Blessings in Louisiana

Hello!

Just wanted to share something that really blessed us this past weekend - the wonderful people of Louisiana. Casey and I traveled to Baton Rouge, LA this past weekend to speak at a fall retreat for the youth of First Presbyterian Baton Rouge and 15 other churches (the camp was actually in Mississippi). We had such an incredible time and LOVED jumping into all that God was doing in the lives of the leaders and youth. Our theme was IDENTITY, and we spoke from the Old Testament about David and how he was 'a man after God's own heart.' What a blessing it is to do ministry with others and see God at work in so many ways!

Love,
Sarah

Underpants

I just think this is hilarious. Wanted people to have a little laugh. Do you ever feel like this sometimes, like you're wearing your underpants on the outside? And everybody is staring at you? And laughing?

A Rutabaga??

I am 25 weeks along this week and Kieren Joy is the size of a RUTABAGA - what the heck is that?? Well here is a picture, and she is definitely bigger than a quarter! She is about 1 1/2 pounds this week and moving and kicking up a storm. Mom is feeling good - praise God!

Lots of Love,
Sarah

Overwhelming Excitement...

On Saturday we started registering for gifts for Kieren. Sort of overwhelming. I wasn't really that prepared for it. I hadn't done any research of the "best" products or didn't even really have any idea what we needed. Thankfully Sarah had done some of that and we have loads of friends that have already been through this process, so they were helpful. There we were, walking into Babies R' Us for this huge new adventure. We've been staying with two High School students for a few weeks (while their parents are in Europe) and they joined us, which added a special moment.
Once you are in there, though, with your gun scanner in hand you get really excited and into it. That's when I started having fun even though Katie had responsibility for the gun. For me, the biggest decisions were the car seat/stroller system and the pack and play. There are so many choices so that's both overwhelming and exciting when you recognize the possibilities that exist!
After Babies R' Us we spent some time at Target later that night with our friend Antony. We were basically trying to complete the list of things we didn't find at BRU. We did find the vibrating chair which Matt Crawley insists on having! We also had some fun registering for a few things there that are probably not your typical baby gifts!
In the end we had a lot of fun. The struggle for me, though, is how do I balance what Sarah and I say we want our lives to be about (loving and serving the poor) while living in this world. We seem to over-consume everything when it comes to children and I just don't want to be like that. I keep thinking about all the kids that we have met around the world over the years. They don't have all the things that our kids have, but continue to grow and develop. So I ask, what's the difference in my kid and all these other kids that God has also created? Why is my child so special that she should have all the other things that other children around the world don't have? I'd rather provide her the essentials that she needs while she learns about the struggles of other children around the world. Maybe I'm just weird, but these are the questions I'm struggling through.
Please keep praying for Kieren's growth and for Sarah's health.
And pray for our friends Matt and Wendy (Matt is who I coach soccer with at Millbrook) who just had their baby girl Avery on Saturday. She was a week late, so they were getting anxious. But now she's here!!

Cheers,
Casey
